I currently make intimately scaled paintings that explore questions of color, texture, pattern, space, rhythm and form. Inspired by the early Renaissance, Modernism, alchemy and textiles (among many other things), I like to mix a hybrid of art historical and design influences with my own personal experience and environment. The work is intuitive and psychological, without strictly adhering to either abstraction or representation. I prefer that moment of not knowing, when it feels as if I am stepping off a ledge and the painting becomes something I didn't know (or expect) it could become.
